New compositions by Janette Montague and Matt Turnbull have been added.

Janette’s tune is called Mo Chridhe and includes Barluath movements.  It is played here by Callum Beumont.

Matt’s tune is called Under the Apricot Tree and can be heard here.

This, together with the recent announcement of the prize winners of the Shasta Piping Society composing competition shows that composition is in good health.  How much these get into the repertoire is the question.  This tends always to take time, unless the tunes are of exceptional merit.  The more they are played, taught, and heard the better.  It is sad to think that the only way new tunes are recognised and played is if they are set for competition.  Surely there is more to piobaireachd than this?
