Tunes and Sources

This section leads you to actual copies of the tunes, given here as facsimiles from the original sources. It is laid out in six columns. Column 1 contains the Serial Numbers, columns 2 and 3 the names of the tunes in Gaelic and English, column 4 contains codes for the original sources and columns 5-6 contain tune and page numbers in the sources.

Where the Serial Number is in RED, there will be a direct link to the facsimile. Clicking on that little red number will take you to the right page in the source, though you may have to scroll down a bit to get to the tune you want.

For more details of the sources -- dates, names of authors, present locations -- look in the “Piobaireachd Index”, which is also on this site.

At present we cover only the oldest sources, books and manuscript compiled over the period 1760-1854. More material will be added at a later date.
