Salute MacKenzie of Applecross’s

Information

This is said by Angus MacKay to have been composed, about 1730, of John Roy MacKenzie, a much beloved Laird of Applecross, on the occasion of the birth of his son.  The composer is said to be Angus MacKay, son of John Dall MacKay, the blind piper of Gairloch.  However Angus was born in 1723, making him only 7 years old in 1730.

An earlier Laird of Applecross was the subject of a lament by Mary MacLeod.
