Judge Note 2026

A long tune whose main feature is the repeated E and F echos and cadence B A throughout. The Campbell setting is longer and more complex than that of Angus MacKay. It should not be dragged, and in particular the short notes in the ground should be incorporated into the rhythm.
In V1 singling the short semiquavers may be played evenly as written, or with either the first or second given slight weighting. Subtle pulsing and and a bright tempo are important in V1 doubling. Drive should be maintained in T and C, with the usual slight increase in tempo in doublings.
