Information

This is said to have been composed by Finlay Dubh MacRae about 1715 in honour of William, fifth Earl of Seaforth. It was composed when Seaforth was in exile, and expressed the wish of himself and the clan that he might soon return, and in good health. During his absence the rents of the estate, although forfeited, were regularly remitted to France, and 800 men escorted the money to Edinburgh. From Angus MacKay's published book.

Malcolm MacPherson was a grandson of Calum Piobaire MacPherson, and son of Angus MacPherson. He was a renowned contemporary of John MacDonald of Inverness. The recordings were made in his later life when circumstances were not ideal. They reflect the style of playing indicated in the collection Binneas is Boreraig, which was compiled from Malcolm MacPherson's playing by Dr Roddy Ross.

The recording of Andrew Wright is of his winning performance in the Open Piobaireachd at the Argyllshire Gathering in 1982
