Donald MacDonald’s Collection Book 1 – digital edition

£8.00

This book is based on one of the first ever books which attempted to put pipe music, and in particular piobaireachd, on the stave. It contains valuable musicological and historical analysis of the original book by Donald MacDonald (first published in 1820), plus edited versions of MacDonald’s scores. The authors are Dr Roderick Cannon and Keith Sanger.

Previously available in hard copy, this book is now only available in digital download. It is not compatible with printing out. Digital versions are intended for use on iPads and other electronic devices. Download attempts are limited to three and expire after 30 days. Purchasers receive a link on completion of sale. Please ensure your email provider has maximum capacity for downloads. Please be aware that downloads can end up in junk or spam folders. Please email the Society if there are any problems and these will be resolved.

Hard copies of Volume 2 of Donald MacDonald’s Collection are still available. Like Volume 1,  it is edited by Roderick Cannon and Keith Sanger. Introductory chapters fill in the historical background, describe the source materials and problems of interpreting them, and give an overview of Donald MacDonald’s style of writing the music.
